How’s the weather and your grips?

With winter finally letting up people are slowly creeping back out to the golf courses to start working out the kinks in their swing. Most of us have been cramped up inside all winter, jealous of the few that are fortunate to live in places like Florida and Arizona with more temperate climates that can enjoy the game year round. Like it has been said, it is probably a good time to check your equipment and  replace your grips if they were on your clubs all last year.  Before you do that, check to see if the grips you are playing are the best for your climate that you live in! Some of Black Widow’s current offering of grips perform better in certain weather conditions than others. You should consider this seeing that you could benefit from using a different style of grip over another! Currently Black Widow has the Tour Silk II, Hybrid, Widow Maker, Fusion II, Signature II and Torque! Here is what conditions they perform best in from personal experiences:

Tour Silk II is considered an all-weather grip, rain or shine. From my personal experience it definitely holds up to it’s description and is currently my grip of choice. It performs well even if it’s a bit damp or your hands sweat and performs awesome in dry conditions as well!

The Hybrid Grip is also considered an all-weather grip, rain or shine. The top of the grip being pebbled gives you the grip on your glove hand like a half cord grip does and the bottom half is a wrap that gives you that soft tacky feeling especially in drier weather, making it a good combination for any weather!

The Widow Maker to me is definitely the all-weather grip. The half cord design allows for you to be confident in wetter conditions with the corded half top and drier conditions with the all rubber bottom half. This grip is designed to work anywhere from the desert to the ocean and anywhere in between. This was one of my original favorites and still is. If you are looking for a go to grip with no slip, this might be the one for you!!

The Signature II is an all rubber grip that provides great grip and to me would perform best for someone who lives in drier climates that don’t experience quite the rain or moisture in the air. If you live in Arizona or the Midwest area that has drier air and warm temperatures then this is the grip you’re looking for. It could possibly work other places as well, but performs the best in drier conditions!!

The Torque is the final grip. It is a full corded grip and performs in all conditions, but I will definitely say if you live in an area that has damper conditions, more humid air, or get sweaty hands in the hot temperatures, this just might be the grip for you. Torque performs excellent in those damp conditions along with performing equally as well in drier conditions as well!

So as you see certain grips will perform best in all conditions, whether you live in an area that is warm and has dry air or an area that feels like you live in the swamp with damp conditions. These  just perform well no matter where you live!! When you go to replacing those grips soon, check into this more and see what grip might work the best for the climate that you live in. If you aren’t 100% sure feel free to ask us here on the blog, catch up with us on Facebook or Twitter or shoot an email over to the company socialmedia@bwgrips.com and I am sure someone will be more than glad to assist you!!

Also remember, do a little grip maintenance after your rounds as well. Wiping down the grips to keep them dirt and debris free will keep them performing the way they should every time you play!! A little soap, water and a brush will go a long way to extending the life of your grips!!

Till next time!

Black Widow New Product Highlights for 2013! Along with Softspikes newest Cleat!

Everyone has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Black Widow’s new 2013 line!! Every year, about this time, people are waiting to get their hands on the new products out from all the major golf manufacturers and try them out. Well Black Widow has come up with some of their best grips yet to date!

Introducing this years 2013 grip line up for Black Widow!!

This year Black Widow has introduced 3 new grips to their already stellar line up.

BW Grips

Black Widow has two new swing grips out this year. The new Tour Silk II grip which is the top grip above and the new Hybrid grip which is the lower grip above! Both of these swing grips are absolutely amazing as I have already given them both a test drive! Both grips are a medium firm rubber, not to soft nor to hard!

Here is what Black Widow has to say about each along with my views!

The Tour Silk II –

The Tour Silk II has been redesigned to optimize your performance. The Tour Silk II provides the consistent feel
and performance for golf activities from beginner swing development to professional shot shaping. This grip is
built for all players in all-weather conditions.

The grip is available in Black or White!

Now from what I have gathered from testing out the Tour Silk II this has to be one of the best all around solid rubber swing grips out on the market. It is more tacky than the original Tour Silk and has better grip ability as well. This grips feel is unique as it has the gripping ability of the Fusion II grip while giving you the softer feel of what a Silk grip should feel like. People who complained that the original Tour Silk got slick should not have that issue with this grip. Also this grip has the traditional Black Widow styling minus the spider logo down on the grip itself where you grip.  This will appeal to those who didn’t necessarily care for the logos and like a more traditional look while sticking with the name brand and signature BW logo and alignment aids for installing the grip. Those who enjoyed the original Tour Silk like myself will absolutely love the Tour Silk II and this grip will contend with any Silk style grip from all other brands!

The Hybrid –

The Hybrid utilizes pebbled pattern on the top half to overhaul the grip traction of traditional cord. The bottom half features a shiny wrap design, providing superior comfort and tack for the golfer’s dominant hand. The construction of the grip forms the perfect combination of textures for your golf grip.

This grip is available in Black or White!

Now this grip absolutely just blew me away when I first saw it. At first I wasn’t so sure what to think about it because it was something I had never seen before in a grip. A pebble top for your grip hand and a wrap for your bottom hand. It is definitely different from anything else but in a totally awesome way after feeling it. This grip is super tacky just like your typical rubber wrap grip would be which will prevent slipping while you play. The grip to me is like having the wonderful benefits of a Multi-compound grip like the Widow Maker and yet taking out the what some consider the harshness of the cord on your glove hand and giving you the same great gripping ability in the pebbles and the tackiness of a full rubber grip. The bottom half of the grip gives everyone the same great feel of any companies wrap grip. With these 2 combined Black Widow has possibly come up with the ultimate multi-feel grip and given it to you in a solid rubber grip! The Hybrid is definitely worth trying out and seemed to be the major rave at the 2013 PGA Show of people stopping by to see the new grips!

Now that is not the only grips that Black Widow has come up with this year – For those who have been waiting and wanting Black Widow to make a Jumbo Putter grip – well your dreams, hopes, and wishes have been fulfilled this year!!

Introducing the new Jumbo Size putter grip – THE FINISHER!!

Finisher

Here is what Black Widow has to say!

The Finisher –

The Finisher putter grip is constructed with the most innovative, durable, and soft-gel grip materials in the market. The unique blend of proprietary components utilizes Player Hand Control™ construction to maximize the player’s grip response. Read. Address. Finish.

My take on the Finisher: Man what a grip! For all those who have been wanting a Jumbo putter grip, this has to be your grip of choice! It has a unique feel to it, it is super tacky, super soft and has a gel feeling like rubber to it.  It is a dream to hold onto! It fills your hands wonderfully to give you the solid grip you need to make a solid stroke and keep you from getting to handsy with the putter. It truly does give you Player Hand Control allowing you the great feedback you need to feel from the ball coming off your putter. Black Widow stuck with some traditional BW Styling on this grip, keeping their name on the grip, putting a hard plastic cap on the end with their traditional logos and the white wrapping around the grip would remind you of the Web! For all those out there wanting to give a Jumbo style grip a try over your more traditional standard or midsize grips, definitely give this grip a try! Your hands, putter and game will thank you at the end of the round!

Now that I have fully given you a rundown on this years 3 new grips from Black Widow, I would like to take the time to highlight the newest product from Black Widow’s sister company Softspikes!!

Introducing the new golf cleat named – STEALTH!

Stealth2

167Now I don’t have all the info at this time on the cleat as it was just introduced at the 2013 PGA Show in Orlando recently, but I did see the cleat first hand while attending the show, so I can give you my thoughts about the cleat. This cleat will be found on all the new 2013 Footjoy M:Project Shoes and should be available shortly at retailers! The cleat utilizes the PINS insert system which is also found on a lot of Adidas and Puma shoes. From the looks of the cleat it is similar in design to Cyclone, which was one of the hottest cleats on Tour last year. It  uses the Fast Twist insert system. The cleats go in an aggressive circular motion that look to provide superior traction. They have a lower profile than the Cyclone does that will keep you low to the ground and provide great interaction between your shoe and the ground. For anyone that has the PINS insert system and have wanted to try the Cyclone, I suggest you definitely get you a set of STEALTH cleat as soon as they come out! I think you will find a lot of players using this cleat on tour this season that wear the new Footjoy M:Projects, Adidas and Puma cleats!!

These are all the newest products from this year for Black Widow along with Softspikes newest cleat! I definitely hope you give them a try, because you definitely won’t be disappointed!

To conclude I am going to leave you with some Photos from this years 2013 PGA Show in Orlando, FL!!

Good Luck to all this upcoming golf season – Remember “Think Outside The Tee Box” and “Shoot Low”
