With winter finally letting up people are slowly creeping back out to the golf courses to start working out the kinks in their swing. Most of us have been cramped up inside all winter, jealous of the few that are fortunate to live in places like Florida and Arizona with more temperate climates that can enjoy the game year round. Like it has been said, it is probably a good time to check your equipment and replace your grips if they were on your clubs all last year. Before you do that, check to see if the grips you are playing are the best for your climate that you live in! Some of Black Widow’s current offering of grips perform better in certain weather conditions than others. You should consider this seeing that you could benefit from using a different style of grip over another! Currently Black Widow has the Tour Silk II, Hybrid, Widow Maker, Fusion II, Signature II and Torque! Here is what conditions they perform best in from personal experiences:
Tour Silk II is considered an all-weather grip, rain or shine. From my personal experience it definitely holds up to it’s description and is currently my grip of choice. It performs well even if it’s a bit damp or your hands sweat and performs awesome in dry conditions as well!
The Hybrid Grip is also considered an all-weather grip, rain or shine. The top of the grip being pebbled gives you the grip on your glove hand like a half cord grip does and the bottom half is a wrap that gives you that soft tacky feeling especially in drier weather, making it a good combination for any weather!
The Widow Maker to me is definitely the all-weather grip. The half cord design allows for you to be confident in wetter conditions with the corded half top and drier conditions with the all rubber bottom half. This grip is designed to work anywhere from the desert to the ocean and anywhere in between. This was one of my original favorites and still is. If you are looking for a go to grip with no slip, this might be the one for you!!
The Signature II is an all rubber grip that provides great grip and to me would perform best for someone who lives in drier climates that don’t experience quite the rain or moisture in the air. If you live in Arizona or the Midwest area that has drier air and warm temperatures then this is the grip you’re looking for. It could possibly work other places as well, but performs the best in drier conditions!!
The Torque is the final grip. It is a full corded grip and performs in all conditions, but I will definitely say if you live in an area that has damper conditions, more humid air, or get sweaty hands in the hot temperatures, this just might be the grip for you. Torque performs excellent in those damp conditions along with performing equally as well in drier conditions as well!
So as you see certain grips will perform best in all conditions, whether you live in an area that is warm and has dry air or an area that feels like you live in the swamp with damp conditions. These just perform well no matter where you live!! When you go to replacing those grips soon, check into this more and see what grip might work the best for the climate that you live in. If you aren’t 100% sure feel free to ask us here on the blog, catch up with us on Facebook or Twitter or shoot an email over to the company socialmedia@bwgrips.com and I am sure someone will be more than glad to assist you!!
Also remember, do a little grip maintenance after your rounds as well. Wiping down the grips to keep them dirt and debris free will keep them performing the way they should every time you play!! A little soap, water and a brush will go a long way to extending the life of your grips!!
Till next time!
